The Story of Stuff

217x188_sos_banner005 The Story of StuffGood God I’m starting to sound like some bleeding heart liberal tree hugger but damn it if sometimes they just make sense! Today I came across the web site called The Story of Stuff. Annie Leanord lays it all out and draws a very compelling picture of the state of consumerism and the world we live in. This is definitely worth a watch.

As Christians we often say “It’s all gonna burn anyway” or excuses like that to cover the fact that we are very careless with the resources that God gave us and downright disrespectful to the creation that he gave us on our original father’s birthday, but good Lord folks! As Christians we should be less susceptible to the pull of consumerism and the need for more, more, more, but it seems that the world around us is teaching US how to respect God’s gift of creation.

Have I mentioned this before?

Check out what Annie Leanord has to say and stop selling yourself out to big government and big business. We have the opportunity to fight back against consumerism, rain forest devastation, child labor, planned obsolescence, toxic waste, and the greed with which we engorge ourselves.

Take a look and see if it’s not just a bit humbling. I wish it were the Christians who were leading this charge to respect the planet, but we certainly had better get off our kiester and get involved.

what would jesus vote for?
