American churches are more racist than the rest of society? NO, really?

Cant we all just get along?

It’s been while since I’ve posted last as projects at home and church have kept me very busy and to be honest… I haven’t had that much to say.  An article this morning on CNN caught my eye and cut me to the quick.

Here’s the link to the article on CNN if you don’t want to read further: “Why many American’s prefer their Sunday segregated”

Last night members of my church met to pray and intercede on behalf of an unchurched generation, mostly the 18-35 crowd who no longer is able to connect in a meaningful way and after reading this it adds another dimension to my concern for lost groups.  Why is race still such a hot button for us?  I wonder if the mistakes and wrongs of the past will ever actually go away.  Honestly?  I don’t think so.

It seems to me that racism will continue for as long as we are all still on this planet.  You know why?  Because nobody really wants it to go away.  Blacks are happy to be separated from whites.  Whites are happy to have their neighborhoods free from “that element.”  As long as there are beatings, stabbings and killings perpetrated by blacks against old white women, white America will continue to stereotype black men as gangsters and thugs.  As long as we have a political system so deeply driven by white American greed and pompous white fat-cats, every other race will see us as “keepin the man down” (yea I said it out loud).

Do you want to see racism end?  It starts with you and me.  When we change our hearts and minds, and begin to give credit and favor to our friends and neighbors regardless of the color of their skin, then we have change.

Be the change you want to see.

what would jesus vote for?
