It’s amazing to me how quickly we shift the news away from the incredible disaster in Haiti to way more important things… like whether or not CBS should air an ad from Focus on the Family. Seriously. This is obviously more important than 100k+ bodies laying in the streets around this earthquake ravaged country, or the countless more perhaps that may perhaps die in the coming weeks and months as already stressed sources of water run thin.
SO… what to do?
Give. Pray. Speak out.
In a word… care.
If you’re still thinking about the folks in Haiti (and you should be), you might take a minute to give to the efforts already underway to provide in the wake of this horrible disaster. At this point they need resources more than anything. Clean water especially, plus food and medical supplies, will continue to be needed in the coming weeks and months. You might be tempted and even resourced to head there yourselves, just to lend a hand; but unless you’re a doctor, nurse, EMT, or other professional aid worker, please stay home. Give the money you might have raised for a trip to aid organizations to provide the necessary resources to restore and rebuild.
