As some of you may know I’ve been an avid home brewer of fine ales for about 10 years now. While preparing to make a batch this weekend I decided to read a bit of beer history for inspiration and found out an interesting bit of medieval beer lore that made my heart swell with love for my great God.
It’s amazing to me how quickly we shift the news away from the incredible disaster in Haiti to way more important things… like whether or not CBS should air an ad from Focus on the Family. Seriously. This is obviously more important than 100k+ bodies laying in the streets around this earthquake ravaged country, or the countless more perhaps that may perhaps die in the coming weeks and months as already stressed sources of water run thin.
I like John Piper, I really do. What I don’t like is that “finger in the chest” feeling I get sometimes when I read his commentary or listen to his sermons. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that Piper is wrong or preaching and teaching in a way that is condemning. What I’m saying is that he is speaking truth and it quickens my heart.
Do you want to know how to get church goers angry with you? Change something. Wanna see them get REALLY tee’d off? Try changing the worship culture.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. In addition to being a newly appointed elder at Grace I’m also working, doing miscellaneous freelance jobs, sitting on the board for miletwo::church and helping to launch the 9Feet project. I hope to get another GO:update out soon as well as a web site for the series launched by end of summer. This post could not wait though.
